The Software Product Manager serves as the primary liaison between development, QA, design, and business stakeholders, owning the product vision, strategy, and backlog for assigned software products. This role is responsible for translating business needs and user feedback into actionable requirements, maintaining a prioritized and refined backlog, and driving product initiatives from ideation through release. The Software Product Manager partners with engineering, QA, and cross-functional teams to ensure features are delivered according to expectations, aligned with organizational objectives, and backed by data-driven insights. This role champions continuous improvement, fosters stakeholder alignment, and ensures the product roadmap reflects strategic priorities and measurable business value., * Understand and operationalize the product vision set by the Director, maintaining a clean, prioritized backlog aligned with business goals and sprint capacity, writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, facilitating story-mapping sessions, and documenting assumptions, constraints, and decisions for traceability
- Translate stakeholder and user needs into concise, technically interpretable requirements, understanding how product features connect across modules, integrations, and user roles and escalating technical feasibility questions to development or architecture leads as needed
- Prepare the team for sprint and feature planning with refined, prioritized, and estimated stories, supporting the team during sprints by clarifying requirements and unblocking questions quickly, and reviewing completed work against acceptance criteria before release
- Contribute to and execute the product roadmap in alignment with the Director's strategic direction, balancing short-term delivery with long-term vision and maintaining a clear link between backlog decisions and overarching product goals
- Evaluate potential initiatives using metrics such as ROI, revenue impact, adoption potential, and operational efficiency, collaborating with finance and analytics teams to quantify benefits and costs and monitoring realized value post-implementation
- Identify emerging technologies and process improvements that could enhance product outcomes, balancing innovative initiatives with practical delivery considerations and iteratively adjusting execution based on results and customer feedback
- Support the Director in maintaining cross-functional alignment between business, support, and development teams, leading workshops and brainstorming sessions to gather input, validate concepts, and ensure stakeholder feedback is captured and reflected in the backlog
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholder teams to support alignment on product direction, providing data-driven insights and maintaining transparency around roadmap decisions, trade-offs, and delivery timelines in coordination with the Director
- Maintain ongoing engagement with stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, soliciting post-release feedback, tracking stakeholder satisfaction, and ensuring stakeholder perspectives are represented in backlog, roadmap, and release planning
- Apply Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies as appropriate, facilitating sprint planning and milestone tracking, monitoring delivery performance metrics such as velocity and cycle time, and continuously refining development processes to balance speed, quality, and predictability
- Maintain proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Productboard, and related tools, creating dashboards, boards, and workflows to support visibility, reporting, and backlog hygiene, and tracking and reporting on KPIs established in partnership with the Director to monitor product performance and guide roadmap prioritization
- Perform hands-on testing and validation in staging or QA environments, collaborating with QA on acceptance tests and regression priorities and providing prompt feedback on defects or misalignments before release
- Coordinate feature readiness across development, QA, and support prior to release, preparing release notes and user documentation, validating deployed features in production, and collecting post-release feedback to identify follow-up items and optimizations
- Prepare training materials, documentation, and guides for new features and releases, coordinating training sessions and demos to ensure effective knowledge transfer across internal teams and stakeholders
- Share product management processes, Agile practices, and backlog hygiene principles with team members, supporting onboarding of new team members and capturing lessons learned to improve future training and guidance.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field

6+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or a related role within a software development environment OR 6+ years of transmission distribution engineering experience

Demonstrated experience maintaining and prioritizing a product backlog and writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria

Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders and development teams to create and fine-tune wireframes

Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies

Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Product board, or equivalent backlog and sprint management tools

Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data and provide actionable insights to stakeholders

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences

Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships and drive alignment on product direction

Experience in the utilities, energy, or infrastructure industry is preferred

Familiarity with ERP systems, asset management platforms, or field operations software is preferred

Experience building and maintaining product roadmaps and presenting to executive leadership is preferred

Experience with data visualization tools and KPI dashboard development is preferred
