Job description

This position supports and maintains end-user computers, devices, and peripherals throughout the district. This position is essential for troubleshooting and the resolution of hardware and network issues as well as project management for the installation of large quantities of equipment. Other responsibilities include the configuration, diagnosis, provisioning, and initial set-up of desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, phones, and any other additional technical device utilized by the district., * Installs, maintains, and repairs computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

  • Tests repaired items to ensure proper operation. Assists network engineers with complex technical tasks including debugging and supporting hardware modules and systems.

  • Must have project management skills to provision and install large quantities of computers and Chromebooks in various locations.

  • Analyzes trouble tickets and distinguishes time versus completion ratios to tweak help process.

  • Coordinates maintenance and equipment moves with schools to minimize downtime in the district. Maintains a hardware inventory used to track district purchases and hardware lifecycles.

  • Adds users to Active Directory, Exchange, and other centralized solutions.

  • Submits reports as required.

  • Submits daily work summaries, to include observations; issues and maintains contact with technology administration and management.

  • Assists in evaluation of hardware and software to determine needs, improvements, and upgrades.

  • Provides troubleshooting and training assistance to other technical staff members.

  • Installs, configures, and maintains workstations, printers, and software applications.

  • Resolves technical issues as they arise.

  • Monitors use of technology in schools and forward observations to supervisor.

  • Performs hardware and software upgrades as needed.

  • Identifies and documents district licensing for compliance.

  • Resolves Level I support for district IP phones.

  • Applies uniform naming conventions for all hardware as outlined by management staff.

  • Attends classes, seminars, and conferences to enhance knowledge and provide enhanced services.

  • Researches new innovations for solving current issues.

  • Supports and services district network infrastructure.

  • Provides quality customer service at all times.

  • Provides Help-Desk coverage as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate's Degree or higher in Computer Systems, Networking, Computer Security, Computer and Information Sciences and one (1) year of documented experience in PC/network technical. OR 2 years of experience as a BCSD PC Network Technician I. OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Thorough working knowledge of PC's, Macs, iPads, Chromebooks and Tablets.

  • Working knowledge of Windows 11, iOS, MacOS, ChromeOS and Android operating systems.

  • Ability to disassemble, repair and reassemble desktop and laptop computers and Chromebooks.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory.

  • Skill in demonstrated network capabilities.

  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.

  • Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and fix common PC break/fix problems. (Changing drives, adding memory, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve advanced hardware, software, and connectivity problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to image, re-image, clean, and add software to PC's, Macs, and Android devices.

  • Demonstrated ability to set up and troubleshoot enterprise printers. * Strong ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to setup and maintain mobile devices to include phones and/or iPads.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A+ or Net+ certifications required (may obtain within 3 months after hire.) Applicants must be willing to work toward additional certifications such as Security+ or advanced Microsoft certifications. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Benefits & conditions

  1. 239 day contract year; 8 hours per day
  2. Salary Range: Grade 126: Hourly (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). Up to ten years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
