Job description
Seeking an enterprise-grade Database Administrator with 6+ years of experience to manage, maintain, secure, and optimize mission-critical database environments supporting high-availability production systems. This 100% on-site role is strictly for New York local candidates capable of attending an in-person interview. The position encompasses hands-on database administration (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL), performance tuning, query optimization, automated backup/recovery strategies, disaster recovery (DR) execution, and production incident management., * Database Administration & Maintenance: Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain multi-platform enterprise database instances across Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
- Performance Tuning & Query Optimization: Monitor database health, profile slow-running queries, tune execution plans, rebuild indexes, and optimize system parameters to ensure low-latency transactions.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Configure, manage, and test High Availability (HA) topologies and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., Oracle RAC, Data Guard, Always On Availability Groups).
- Backup, Recovery & Security: Design and execute automated backup strategies, conduct routine recovery tests, manage user access controls, implement encryption, and enforce security compliance.
- Production Support & Incident Triage: Provide 24x7 production support, perform root cause analysis (RCA) on database incidents, and manage database release deployments.
- Capacity Planning & Storage Management: Monitor disk allocation, track growth trends, perform capacity planning, and optimize storage parameters for multi-terabyte database clusters.
Requirements
- Experience: 6+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments.
- Core DBMS Proficiency: Proven expertise in administering at least one primary enterprise database platform: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Performance Optimization: Deep technical knowledge in SQL query tuning, indexing strategies, memory allocation, and database profiling tools.
- HA/DR Architectures: Practical experience managing backup/recovery procedures, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery replication techniques.
- OS Systems Literacy: Proficient in Linux/Unix shell environments and Windows Server administration.
- Education & Location: Bachelor''s Degree in CS/IT/Engineering; candidate must be local to New York and available for an in-person interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cloud Databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) or containerized databases (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with database scripting and automation (Shell, PowerShell, Python).
- Experience supporting database platforms within Banking, Financial Services, Capital Markets, or Healthcare environments.
