Job description

The Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group is seeking a senior systems administrator to become part of a small IT team that supports our analytical and prototyping teams. The senior systems administrator will work with our IT team to build and maintain the group's computing and network infrastructure to provide IT support to the technical teams as needed. The senior system administrator will need to develop creative technical solutions to complex IT problems. Qualified candidates must be able to expand and maintain computer hardware, software, and networks for Windows operating system. Familiarity or experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Virtual Machines is highly desirable. The candidate must possess a solid understanding of networking, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DoD IT security requirements and procedures including Risk Management Framework and Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG). They should also be team-oriented, have strong communication skills, have the desire to work in a research and development environment, present a high level of professionalism, and be comfortable dealing with classified information in a secure facility.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct user support on a regular basis
  • Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade computers and servers
  • Manage Windows Operating Systems and RedHat meeting DISA STIG configurations with security tools such as EvaluateSTIG and STIGViewer
  • Configure and STIG network devices such as routers, switches and printers
  • Manage networks, file share, virtual infrastructures and SAN/NAS environments
  • Document IT Procedures
  • Familiarity with using and Implementing Splunk, EPO, ACAS/NESSUS, PDQ Deploy, Backup Exec and other security and patching tools
  • Identify vulnerabilities and remediate them to maintain compliance with security policies
  • Review and test new hardware and software to make recommendations for purchases
  • Work effectively and closely with various security teams
  • Trouble shoot software in a complex rapidly changing environment
  • Support Windows, Linux, and WSL based platforms, virtual systems, applications, and users

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of experience supporting Windows systems including configuration management, software installation/configuration, and network configuration.
  • Experience with Windows systems in addition to RedHat competency is highly desired
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret-level DoD security clearance.
  • A current active Top Secret clearance is highly desired
  • Demonstrated track record to work independently
  • A current DoD 8570 level II or higher certification employment preferred. (Security+, SSCP, CISSP, etc)

Benefits & conditions

Hiring Range: $114,500 - $151,900
