Job description
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care through patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with physician orders and established standards of practice.
- Administer medications, intravenous (IV) therapy, blood products, and other prescribed treatments while monitoring for therapeutic effectiveness and adverse reactions.
- Perform advanced clinical procedures including wound care, catheter insertion and management (urinary and vascular), tracheostomy care, enteral feeding management, ostomy care, and central line care within scope of practice.
- Monitor, interpret, and document patient assessments, vital signs, laboratory results, and changes in condition, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy when required, and coordinate diagnostic testing and procedures.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, disease management, and discharge instructions.
- Safely transfer, reposition, and mobilize patients using appropriate equipment and evidence-based safety practices.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient-centered care across the continuum.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
- Active, unrestricted Florida Nursing license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or other specialty certifications preferred based on assignment.
- Minimum of one year of recent clinical nursing experience preferred.
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environments.
- Physical ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist patients as required.
Preferred Experience
- Clinical experience in one or more of the following areas: Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Progressive Care (PCU), Operating Room (OR), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Outpatient Services, Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC), Rehabilitation, Home Health, or Community Health.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks.
- Experience caring for diverse patient populations across the lifespan, including pediatric, adult, geriatric, and medically complex patients.
