Job description

Responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, inventory management, and operational coordination of non-human primates (NHPs) to support preclinical studies. Ensures regulatory compliance, animal welfare, and seamless study execution through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do Here

  • Source and procure NHPs from domestic and international suppliers
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, pricing, and performance
  • Forecast supply and mitigate procurement risks
  • Oversee animal inventory systems and ensure data accuracy
  • Plan and forecast colony needs to meet study timelines
  • Coordinate import/export, quarantine, and transportation logistics
  • Ensure compliance with AWA, USDA, GLP, and IACUC requirements
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness
  • Coordinate inter-site transfers and study scheduling
  • Partner with veterinary, scientific, and operational teams
  • Oversee animal selection, screening, and study readiness
  • Maintain procurement records, reporting, and dashboards
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Animal Science, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience and education to fulfill essential job duties.
  • Minimum 5+ years in procurement, inventory, or preclinical operations; experience with laboratory animals preferred.
  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point

Language(s) Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals.
  • Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required.
  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Relevant industry experience a plus.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with GLP, AWA, USDA, and IACUC standards.
