Job description
We are seeking a Junior Active Directory / Entra Contractor to join our Modern Workspaces delivery team in support of a customer project. This is an early-career, hands-on role for an engineer who is building depth in enterprise identity and Microsoft 365 technologies while contributing to real client engagements. Working alongside senior consultants, you will support the delivery of an Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) project - assisting with discovery, configuration, migration execution, testing, and documentation. Junior to Mid-level Active Directory / Entra Engineer KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Delivery & Execution
- Support senior consultants in delivering Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID engagements, including configuration, testing, and validation tasks.
- Execute assigned migration and administration tasks under guidance, following established runbooks and checklists.
- Perform quality-control (QC) checks and validation on migrated users, mailboxes, and data.
Identity & Cloud
- Assist with day-to-day administration of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including users, groups, and Group Policy.
- Help configure Entra ID features such as Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Single Sign-On (SSO) under senior direction.
- Support hybrid identity synchronization through Entra Connect and related tooling.
Migrations
- Support tenant-to-tenant (T2T) and on-premises migrations, including batch execution, user staging, and tracking.
- Assist with current-state discovery of identities, groups, mailboxes, and file data, and help maintain migration inventories and trackers.
- Gain hands-on experience with enterprise migration tooling such as Quest On Demand Migration and ShareGate.
Learning & Collaboration
- Build and maintain clear technical documentation, checklists, and status updates.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, growing scripting skills over time.
- Communicate progress and blockers proactively to project leads and teammates.
- Actively pursue certifications and skills development toward a senior engineering track.
Requirements
- One to three years of IT experience, including hands-on exposure to Active Directory and/or Microsoft 365 administration.
- Foundational understanding of directory services, identity concepts, and Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and core Microsoft 365 workloads such as Exchange Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Basic PowerShell scripting ability and a willingness to develop automation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication.
- Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, client-facing delivery environment., * Relevant certifications or active progress toward them, such as Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900), Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), or Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300).
- Exposure to identity or mailbox migration projects, including tenant-to-tenant scenarios.
- Familiarity with Conditional Access, MFA, and basic identity security concepts.
- Experience with Intune, Microsoft Purview, or endpoint management is a plus.
