Job description

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Network Engineer - INO (Implementations & Operations) in Charlotte, NC., We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join the Implementations and Operations (INO) team supporting complex network infrastructure initiatives across a large-scale ISP environment. This role will focus on the design, implementation, migration, and provisioning of advanced network services, including backbone upgrades, customer migrations, network augmentations, and large-scale infrastructure changes., The ideal candidate will have deep service provider networking experience, strong routing and switching expertise, and the ability to execute complex production changes with minimal supervision. This engineer will work within a national team responsible for maintaining and evolving critical network infrastructure while partnering with multiple technical teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions., * Design, implement, and support complex network infrastructure changes across a large ISP environment

  • Execute network migrations, augmentations, and provisioning activities supporting backbone and customer-facing services
  • Perform advanced routing and switching configurations across enterprise-scale network environments
  • Support major network upgrades, equipment replacements, topology changes, and service migrations
  • Develop and execute detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for production network changes
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, operations teams, and external partners during implementation activities
  • Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking issues
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, including overnight production changes
  • Validate network performance, capacity, and stability following implementations
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations during network design and migration planning discussions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale network environments
  • Strong background working within an ISP, telecommunications, carrier, or service provider environment
  • Advanced knowledge of routing and switching technologies

Extensive experience with:

  • BGP
  • OSPF
  • MPLS
  • Layer 2/Layer 3 networking concepts

Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting:

  • Cisco routing platforms (ASR, Catalyst 9K preferred)
  • Juniper routing platforms (MX series preferred)
  • Nokia routing platforms (preferred)
  • Experience performing complex network implementations and migrations
  • Ability to independently execute production changes with limited guidance
  • Experience creating and following technical documentation, including MOPs and implementation plans
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, * CCNP certification or equivalent experience
  • JNCIP certification or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience supporting large telecommunications networks
  • Experience with backbone/core network infrastructure
  • Experience supporting large-scale customer migrations
  • Experience working in environments requiring strict change management processes

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
