Job description
- Work directly with United Airlines application teams to assess and migrate applications from Traditional WAS to Liberty
- Analyze and remediate application code and configuration issues during migration
- Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the migration process
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration, deployment, and performance challenges
- Collaborate closely with client stakeholders and IBM delivery teams
- Document migration approaches, lessons learned, and best practices
- Deliver knowledge transfer sessions to client teams
Requirements
We are looking for a highly skilled Resident Engineer to support a large-scale application modernization initiative involving the migration of 20+ applications from Traditional WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty., * Strong hands-on development experience migrating client application code from Traditional WAS to Liberty

Deep expertise with WebSphere Application Server (Traditional WAS)

Proven Open Liberty / WebSphere Liberty migration experience

Strong Java development skills

Application modernization and migration experience

Hands-on implementation, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and configuration expertise

Experience working directly with client application teams in an embedded delivery model

Ability to perform knowledge transfer and create technical documentation

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Transformation Advisor (TA), * Previous experience serving as a Resident Engineer or technical consultant embedded with client teams

Experience supporting enterprise-scale Java application modernization initiatives

Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices within Java environments
