- By translating process knowledge into mathematical software frameworks, you strengthen SMT's internal capabilities and drive sustainable technical excellence.
- In close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, you communicate results effectively and present them convincingly to external stakeholders.
- You will develop concepts, test them, compile the team's findings, present the results, and refine the concepts until they are ready for decision-making.
Requirements
- Technical degree (mechanical/electrical/industrial engineering, mechatronics, physics, mathematics, computer science, or similar), ideally with a Ph.D. in a relevant field or significant professional experience in tolerance analysis, simulation, or scientific computing.
- Strong background in the mathematical foundations especially in rigid body transformations (e.g. robotics, …) and related computational fields from optimization and numerical methods to graph algorithms.
- Proven ability to rapidly develop and evolve software prototypes into robust working solutions using established software engineering practices, including OOP and design patterns, Git-based collaboration, automated testing, etc. Ideally with experience in a prototyping languages like Matlab or Python.
- Basic knowledge of quality data (CMMs, Calypso, …), with familiarity in measurement processes is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills: accustomed to dealing with complex issues and systems.
- You feel comfortable presenting your results and progressing as a team; as well as working across departments and reconciling requirements from multiple interfaces.
- Strong Communication Skills: you can explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences (engineers, managers, stakeholders), you foster an excellent culture of communication and enjoy both working independently and as part of a team.
