Job description

A well-established and award-winning MSP based in Oxfordshire is looking for an experienced 3rd Line Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This is a senior escalation role within the Service Delivery department, working across a broad range of client environments and technology stacks., * Act as the primary escalation point for 2nd Line engineers across incidents and requests

  • Manage tickets in line with established SLAs, keeping clients informed throughout
  • Monitor and maintain client infrastructure and systems, responding proactively to alerts
  • Produce and implement change requests for internal and external requirements
  • Support client on/offboarding processes and assist with project handovers to service delivery
  • Work with third-party suppliers and vendors where appropriate
  • Travel to client sites as required for on-site support, installations or meetings
  • Maintain internal and client documentation to a high standard
  • Participate in ongoing training programmes and contribute to continuous improvement

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 4-5 years' IT experience in a corporate or MSP environment, MSP background is essential
  • Ideally with 3rd Line experience for some or all of that time
  • Linux experience (desktop and/or server) is a key differentiator and highly sought after
  • Strong security knowledge: AV, firewalls, CA policies, RBAC, managed threat response, identity protection, mail/web filtering
  • Microsoft Azure: Virtual Servers, Backup & DR, Networking, AVD, Hybrid deployments
  • Cloud-led identity and management: Intune, Entra, ABM
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery processes and technologies
  • Internal networking: DHCP, DNS, NPS/RADIUS, switches, firewalls, wireless, VPN
  • Hypervisor technologies: VMware, Hyper-V
  • Microsoft Server OS: management, maintenance and deployment
  • Scripting and RPA automations
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport

  • Firewalls: WatchGuard, FortiGate, Sophos, Smoothwall
  • Endpoint security: Sophos AV
  • Switching: HPE/Aruba, Cisco, Dell, Ubiquiti
  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure certification
  • Device management: Apple Business Manager, Google Workspace
  • Wireless: Ubiquiti, Meraki
  • Email filtering: Mimecast, Barracuda
  • Backup & DR: Veeam, Datto, Acronis, Barracuda
