Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our growing technology team in Birmingham. This role is ideal for a cloud professional who is passionate about designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure. You will play a key role in driving cloud adoption, modernising enterprise platforms, and supporting digital transformation initiatives across the organisation.

Working closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, software engineering, and DevOps teams, you will design cloud solutions that align with business objectives while ensuring security, resilience, performance, and cost efficiency. You will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud operations and best practices., * Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Build scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments that support business-critical applications.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, AWS CloudFormation, or ARM Templates.
  • Configure and manage cloud networking, storage, identity management, and security services.
  • Support cloud migration and hybrid cloud transformation projects.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and utilisation using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Implement cloud security controls, governance policies, backup strategies, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor junior cloud engineers and provide technical guidance across cloud initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements that enhance scalability, security, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps within enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration platforms.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, virtual networking, VPNs, and cloud security best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or Splunk.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud governance, disaster recovery, business continuity, and cost optimisation.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, or ITIL certifications are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional technical teams.
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
