Job description
is seeking a to support a large government contractor in . The Network Operations Engineer will support mission-critical Defense Information System Network (DISN) services by monitoring, troubleshooting, and restoring global network connectivity across transport and IP infrastructure in a 24x7 operations environment.
- Monitor and operate mission-critical DISA Global Information Grid (GIG) and Defense Information System Network (DISN) infrastructure
- Configure, analyze, and support customer circuits across optical transport equipment, routers, switches, and electro-optical multiplexers
- Perform real-time circuit rerouting and alternate path restoration during planned maintenance and unplanned network outages
- Monitor network alarms using enterprise network management and monitoring platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, degradations, and performance issues while minimizing operational impact
- Execute change management activities including hardware replacements, software updates, configuration changes, and ASI management
- Document incidents, outages, troubleshooting efforts, escalations, and resolutions using enterprise incident management tools
- Collaborate with customers, government agencies, network engineers, and operations teams to ensure maximum network availability
- Analyze transport and IP network performance while identifying opportunities for service improvements
- Support mission-critical network operations in a 24x7 shift environment while adhering to operational procedures and service level objectives
Requirements

Experience supporting enterprise IP and transport network operations

Strong understanding of routing, switching, and network topologies

Experience troubleshooting Cisco and/or Juniper network environments

Experience supporting optical transport networks, MPLS, SDH/SONET, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), or MSPP technologies
-
Experience utilizing network monitoring and incident management tools
-
Ability to work a 24x7 rotating shift schedule

Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; equivalent military or professional experience may be considered

Experience supporting DISA, DoD, or military network operations environments

Tech Control Facility or Cyber Transport experience

Experience with carrier circuit provisioning and telecommunications vendors

Experience with IP transport architecture and enterprise backbone networks

Experience with SolarWinds, Jira, or similar network monitoring and ticketing platforms

Experience supporting Network Operations Centers (NOC), Telecommunications Operations Centers (TOC), or carrier operations

Familiarity with alarm surveillance, fault management, performance management, LAN operations, and change management
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
