Job description
We're looking for a talented full stack software developer to join our engineering team in Austin, Texas. You'll work on a small, highly experienced team building an exciting product in a growing, worldwide market. On a team this size, you'll own real features end to end and see your contributions ship to a global audience quickly-the kind of scope and impact that's hard to find at a larger company. We're looking for someone early in their career who is sharp, genuinely curious, and works hard.
We meet up one day each week in South Austin and work remotely the rest of the time. Our contract hours are 9am-5pm CST. We're serious about quality web engineering, but we keep the environment relaxed and flexible. We take an outcomes-based view of success and stay open about how we get there.
Responsibilities
Participate in the full product development process: planning, design, scoping, development, documentation, review, and QA
Build responsive, performant, accessible user interfaces with Ember.js (we'll teach it on the job-no prior Ember experience required)
Write, refactor, and maintain code across our Laravel backend
Contribute to our Next.js marketing site, React Native mobile app, and Node.js tools
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across a range of languages and technologies
Ship code that is well-tested, readable, and maintainable
Communicate closely with the team, stakeholders, and customers
Requirements
1-3 years of experience as a full stack software developer or in a similar role
Experience with Laravel/PHP
Confident with data modeling and writing migrations for a MySQL database
Experience with a component-based SPA framework (React, Vue, Ember.js, etc.)
A solid grasp of software development methodologies, tools, and processes
Skilled at problem-solving and root-cause analysis
Able to use AI to move faster, but ready to explain and defend every line of code you ship
Great communication skills, especially on a small, collaborative team
A strong desire to grow, take complete ownership, and acquire deep understanding
Nice to Have
A degree in Computer Science or a related field
Previous experience at a startup or in a fast-paced environment
Experience developing enterprise-grade software
Experience developing on AWS
Comfortable on the Linux command line
An eye for UX and the details that make an interface feel polished
Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2)
Familiarity with internationalization (i18n), such as localization and bidirectional (RTL) layouts
