Job description
Network & Systems Administration (Primary Duties)
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, VPNs).
- Administer Windows servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, and standard enterprise applications.
- Assist with cybersecurity monitoring, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Support backups, disaster recovery processes, and system continuity planning.
- Provide support for IT-related issues across the organization.
Programming, Scripting & Automation (Secondary but Important Duties)
- Develop scripts and small applications to automate IT processes (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
- Create integrations between systems (APIs, data connectors, file processing workflows).
- Support database-driven tasks such as reporting, data validation, or ETL workflows.
- Assist in enhancing operational technology systems with custom tooling (e.g., SCADA support scripts, data automation, report generation).
- Work with the IT Manager to identify opportunities to reduce manual work via automation.
Requirements
Rogers Water Utilities is seeking a versatile IT professional with solid network administration experience and practical programming/scripting skills. This hybrid role supports day-to-day network and systems operations while also contributing to automation, integration, data workflows, and internal tool development. If you enjoy traditional IT infrastructure work but also like solving problems with code, this position is for you., * Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
- Familiarity with secure-by-design approach to networking.
- Experience with firewall administration and network security best practices.
- Windows Server administration, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and enterprise backup systems.
Programming / Automation
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: PHP, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, Bash.
- Experience automating system tasks, parsing data, or building internal tools.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON-based integrations.
- Experience with SQL or other database platforms.
- Experience with Power Automate a plus.
General
- Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a utility or critical-infrastructure setting.
- Strong documentation habits and change-control awareness.
- Excellent communication and collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Other duties as assigned., * Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), IT Technology, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus specialized training.
- 4 years related experience and/or training
- Experience with databases, networks, and patch management.
- Microsoft Certified and working knowledge of Fortinet a plus.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role. Working knowledge of Microsoft Business Applications including Azure.
- Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to deal with nonverbal, logical or scientific symbolism such as formulas, scientific equations, and graphs.
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
- Very close mental demand, continuous attention, and high degree of coordination.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram formats.
- Maintain a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
- Must be available to work regular schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm - Monday thru Friday. Some weekend or evening/night work as assigned or determined by Department Manager.
- Must be able to represent RWU in a professional manner.
- Steady and Consistent Work History.
- Ability to multi-task and switch priorities based on the needs of RWU., Based on definitions in the RWU Employee Policy Manual this position meets the criteria to be defined as a Security or Safety Sensitive position. As a result of this determination any employee working in this position is required to disclose to their Department Manager or Superintendent the use of any prescribed medication, including marijuana, which has the potential to impact the employee's ability to perform the duties of their position.

- Salary - $38.52/Hr (85% level or 5% rule applies for internal candidates)
Pay: $80,122.00 - $102,224.00 per year
