Job description
Sr. Python Developer is a full-time, remote role working for USDA OHRM and NFC. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining front and back-end services and APIs using Python, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, testable code, integrating with databases, troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems, and participating in code reviews. The Sr. Python Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and help establish best practices and standards. This role also involves mentoring other developers, improving development workflows, and staying current with tools and frameworks relevant to Python and back-end development.
Requirements
- Must be either a US citizen or current active green card holder that can receive public trust level badging from the US Government.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with emphasis on building APIs, microservices, and server-side logic using Python.
- Candidates should possess solid Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and general Programming skills, including data structures, design patterns, and debugging.
- Candidates should possess hands-on experience working with Databases, including schema design, query optimization, and integrating relational databases with Python applications.
- Real world experience with the majority of the following:
- Django
- FastAPI
- Django Rest Framework
- Openshift or similar
- ReactJS
- Postgres
- SqlAlchemy
- Jenkins
- Willingness to review legacy .NET code in order to validate business rules that are required in modernization efforts
- Basic understanding of common AI development pattern, 'vibe coding' and Spec Driven Development
- Qualifications such as a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, along with proven experience in senior or lead developer roles, are preferred.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively on-site with multidisciplinary teams are essential.
Benefits & conditions
$125,000 - $200,000 a year - Full-time, Contract, * 1099 or W2 roles available- Rate and Pay commensurate with level of experience
