Job description

SAIC is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to support mission - critical cloud platforms and application services by engineering, automating, and maintaining secure, scalable environments across AWS, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and modern web technologies. This role requires someone capable of rapidly integrating into existing workflows, supporting infrastructure automation, container platforms, identity integrations, and full - stack application operations.

The individual will work closely with cyber, networking, and development teams across several cloud-based hosting platforms to enhance capability while maintaining a high level of system uptime. In this role, you'll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense., * Build and maintain AWS infrastructure including EC2, VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, and storage services (S3, EBS, EFS).

  • Develop and manage IaC using CloudFormation, YAML/JSON templates, and version-controlled automation pipelines.
  • Operate container platforms including Kubernetes/OpenShift, service mesh components, and application container lifecycle management.
  • Support web application stacks including HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
  • Implement authentication and SSO using OpenID Connect, SAML, LDAP/AD, and application-level authorization patterns.
  • Manage Linux and Windows servers including patching, hardening, and configuration automation.
  • Configure networking components including ports/protocols, routing, firewalls, NACLs, and transit gateway/VPC peering.
  • Automate operational tasks using Bash, Python, PowerShell, and AWS Lambda and CloudFormation
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud systems using CloudWatch, logging pipelines, and distributed tracing tools.
  • Support cyber hygiene including STIGs, ACAS scanning, and endpoint security controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity and nine (9) years or more experience; Years of experience in lieu of degree to be taken into consideration.
  • 3-6 Years of DevOps experience supporting cloud-based applications or infrastructure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance to Start
  • Must be able to Obtain a TS/SCI after start
  • AWS experience across EC2, IAM, VPC networking, storage services, and automation tooling.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes/OCP experience including deployments, scaling, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Linux (RHEL/Amazon Linux) and Windows Server administration.
  • IaC experience using CloudFormation, YAML/JSON, and Git-based workflows.
  • Networking fundamentals including routing, firewalls, ports/protocols, and cloud network constructs.
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, PowerShell, and AWS CLI.
  • Cybersecurity familiarity including STIGs, ACAS, and endpoint security tools.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd, or OCP native implementations).
  • Advanced AWS networking including transit gateways, VPC peering, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Reverse proxy expertise with NGINX/Apache configuration and tuning.
  • Strong PKI/TLS knowledge for certificate management and secure application delivery.
  • Automation pipeline experience using Git based workflows and cloud native tooling.
  • Experience with AWS Directory Services and identity integrations.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security (HBSS, EDR tools).
  • JSON/YAML proficiency for configuration, templating, and automation.

Benefits & conditions

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
