The Sr Data Analyst is a business-facing position that will specialize in managing eligibility and benefit data, supporting vendors that administer supplemental Medicare Advantage benefits (such as fitness or transportation). Vendors and internal stakeholders consistently require data and ad-hoc analysis. This role ensures eligibility data is accurate, compliant with CMS regulations and UHG standards, and delivered in accordance with established business requirements.
This role involves querying databases in Snowflake and SQL Server, as well as custom APIs. It requires a solid analytical mindset and the ability to understand the business processes and data supported by MA Product, then apply that knowledge to ensure our data exchanges provide a seamless member experience. The role will work closely with team members across UnitedHealth Group, including product owners, account managers, our IT Partners, and vendors.
If you reside within a commutable distance of either Minnetonka, MN or Fort Washington, PA, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week., * Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to design, implement, and support data solutions
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related production issues impacting internal stakeholders and external partners
- Support implementation and ongoing management of data exchanges with external vendors and benefit administrators
- Validate, reconcile, and monitor eligibility, utilization, and benefit data to ensure the accuracy of downstream reporting and vendor data exchanges
- Establish a thorough understanding of the business (Medicare Product, Claims, Member eligibility) and collaborate with Business SMEs to shape solutions, perform analyses, and interpret data
- Engage with leadership teams to support ad-hoc data analysis primarily in SQL Server and Snowflake and present findings
- Create and maintain data scripts using Python for data transformations and data loads
- Produce high-quality data solutions that adhere to team standards, are scalable as the product grows, and are sustainable with minimal rework
- Demonstrate leadership by independently driving work to completion while effectively collaborating with team members and stakeholders
- Maintain team operational effectiveness through comprehensive documentation, process flows, diagrams, code comments, and reusable code developed within a shared environment
- Contribute to analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
- Maintain and expand technical expertise through continuing education, industry networking, and evaluation of emerging development tools and programming techniques
- Provide timely status updates and communicate risks, dependencies, and project progress to stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership by driving project teams toward established goals and promoting adherence to established design standards

Requirements

5+ years of experience developing complex SQL solutions with advanced or expert-level SQL proficiency

3+ years of experience with scripting or programming languages (Python preferred)

3+ years of data analysis and reporting experience

3+ years of experience supporting Medicare Advantage programs, with a solid understanding of the Medicare Advantage line of business

The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
