Job description
Join a major European organization operating critical infrastructure and large-scale communication networks. You will contribute to the operation, maintenance, and evolution of enterprise IP networking environments that support business-critical and operational services across multiple sites and data centres.
Working alongside internal teams and external specialists, you will help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of complex network infrastructures while contributing to the modernization of networking technologies.
Department Overview
The team is responsible for:
- Managing large-scale data communication transport networks based on fibre, copper, and leased connectivity.
- Operating enterprise IP, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi networks supporting administrative, operational, and real-time business services.
- Maintaining secure interconnections with external partners and organizations.
- Managing internet connectivity and perimeter security services.
- Supporting network infrastructures connecting remote operational sites and data centres.
- Migrating legacy communication technologies toward modern packet-switched networking environments.
- Managing secure communication links between operational control environments and external entities.
Role Responsibilities
Network Monitoring & Operations
- Monitor network infrastructure and management platforms.
- Review alarms, incidents, and performance indicators across networking technologies.
- Support environments including:
- Routing & Switching
- Load Balancing
- Firewalls
- Network Authentication
- DNS, DHCP & IP Address Management
- VPN Services
Service Requests & Configuration Management
- Act as a primary operational contact for network-related requests.
- Process incidents, service requests, changes, and information requests.
- Perform network configuration and operational maintenance activities.
- Support hardware installation, replacement, staging, and deployment activities.
- Execute both remote and occasional on-site interventions.
- Progressively assume more complex responsibilities based on experience and performance.
Troubleshooting & Incident Management
- Perform first-line technical troubleshooting.
- Correlate events and identify root causes.
- Implement workarounds where appropriate.
- Escalate and coordinate complex incidents with senior engineers and architects.
- Manage interactions with vendors, suppliers, and support partners.
- Track incidents through to resolution.
Documentation & Operational Improvement
- Maintain accurate inventories, diagrams, and operational documentation.
- Share knowledge through procedures, workshops, and on-the-job coaching.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the enhancement of operational processes and maintenance practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in ICT, Telecommunications, Electronics, or equivalent relevant experience., * Approximately 5 years or more of experience in:
- IP Network Operations
- NOC / Network Support environments
- Enterprise network administration
Technical Requirements
Strong practical experience with:
- Enterprise routing and switching technologies
- Firewall technologies
- Network authentication solutions
- Load balancing platforms
- DNS, DHCP, and IP address management
- Multi-site and data centre network environments
Required expertise in:
- Configuration and troubleshooting of enterprise switches and routers
- Firewall administration and support
- Incident handling and operational troubleshooting
