MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Network Engineer Principal, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe and Africa. You will play a crucial role in providing mission command support.
- Analyzes customer requirements and provides an overall engineering design plan.
- Plans, designs, and deploys network infrastructure on coalition networks (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless devices).
- Has strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP), VLANs, DNS, and OSI models.
- Familiar and capable of supporting RMF compliance by contributing to NIST System Security Plans (SSPs), Basis of Estimate (BoE) documentation, Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) activities, and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) requirements across networks.
- Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks. Be well versed in a multi-vendor environment for layer 2/3 switching and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, etc.), Network management solutions, as well as virtual and cloud-hosted networking technologies.
- Oversee System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and system/ network administration activities.
- Operations & Maintenance to include system administration, information assurance, and storage management to customer owned networks. Analyzing network performance, resolving, and providing Tier-2/Tier-3 support for network incidents and service requests.
- Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
- Must utilize network monitoring applications for traffic, access, and performance of entire network. Ensuring network reliability through continuous monitoring, proactive maintenance, and system upgrades.
- Creates and updates technical documentation for network configuration, topology, and mapping.
- Provide recommendations related to understanding operating system dependencies, physical and virtual server environments, integration with infrastructure resources (e.g. storage and networking), and how to configure operating systems and applications in an efficient manner.
- Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
- Evaluates new network solutions, capabilities, and technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
- Subject matter expert to escalate all IT issues to leadership.
- Participates in special projects as required.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: with 10 years of relevant experience or Associate's Degree with 12 years of relevant experience or High School / GED with 14 years of relevant experience.

Technical skills: System Development Life Cycle, system/network administration activities, Windows and Linux systems experience a must.

Security clearance level: TS/SCI Security Clearance

Role requirements: Experience in writing operating procedures and reporting templates to ensure best practices are being implemented across the sections in accordance with national and DoW requirements. Comprehensive knowledge of National and DoW directives, orders, regulations, and instructions governing the conduct of network activities.

This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
