RoleAs part of this mission, the Data Migration Specialist role focuses on the planning, execution, and management of data migration projects. Data Migration Specialists are responsible for transferring data from legacy systems to new platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to data integrity standards. Analyse existing data structures and understand business requirements for data migration.Design and implement robust data migration strategies.Develop scripts and processes to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.Work closely with stakeholders, including business users and IT teams, to ensure data requirements are met, and migrations proceed without disruption to business operationsResponsibilitiesPlan, coordinate, and execute data migration projects within set timelines.Design and build ETL solutions, ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the migration process.Expertise on Data migrations on to cloud Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly to minimise disruption.Collaborate with various teams to align migration processes with organisational goals and regulatory standards.Required SkillsExpert-level SQL skills for complex query development, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and data transformation to enable accurate and

Requirements

efficient migration from on-premises databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL) to AWS cloud.Proven experience in on-prem to AWS data migration using AWS-native tools such as DMS, Glue, DataSync, Step Functions, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, RDS, EC2, S3 Data Lake, and CloudWatch.Strong knowledge of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, leveraging tools such as Talend, Informatica, Matillion, Pentaho, MuleSoft, Boomi, or scripting languages (Python, PySpark, SQL).Solid understanding of data warehousing and data modelling techniques (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema).Familiarity with security frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, NIST, SOX, PII) and AWS security features (IAM, KMS, RBAC).Knowledge of Azure data engineering tools (ADF, Azure DB, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Monitor) for hybrid migration scenarios.Proficiency with cloud automation/orchestration tools such as Terraform and Airflow.Strong analytical skills to assess data quality, identify inconsistencies, and resolve migration issues.Ability to manage end-to-end migration projects, ensuring accuracy, meeting timelines, and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.AWS or Azure cloud certifications preferred.Required ExperienceProven experience in data migration, data management, or ETL development.Experience working with ETL tools and database management systems.Familiarity with data integrity and compliance standards relevant to data migration.Required educationBachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
