Job description
Insight Global's client, a leading company in the gaming industry, is integrating their data assets into DataHub. They need to know what's in them: which fields are sensitive, which datasets contain Restricted or Confidential player data, and where policy needs to be enforced. We're looking for a senior engineer with a privacy/data classification background to help design and build these capabilities, spanning both our data warehouse and operational data assets.
What you'll work on
-
Help design and mature data classification approach, including building an in-house classification system and evaluating and integrating classification signal providers. Currently we use Wiz and are evaluating Cyera.
-
Build the internal tooling needed to take classification signals (from Wiz, Cyera, or others) and turn them into reliable, actionable classification metadata in DataHub, including human-in-the-loop review workflows where automated confidence is low.
-
Contribute to DataHub's built-in LLM/pattern-based classifier rollout for data warehouse assets (starting with Databricks, then Snowflake), leveraging the consistent schema/naming produced by our Data Router pipeline.
-
Over time, help design and prototype an internal classifier (sample data * classifier * output) as a complement or alternative to third-party signal providers, informed by how existing tools perform in production.
-
Work closely with data governance, legal, and security stakeholders to ensure classification approaches reflect Epic's data classification taxonomy and regulatory obligations.
Requirements
-
5+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including meaningful work on data classification or privacy engineering infrastructure.
-
Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted software development, including coding assistants, agentic AI systems and developer tools, with the ability to evaluate and integrate new AI capabilities into engineering workflows.
-
Experience integrating with or building on top of data classification / security posture tools (Wiz, Cyera, BigID or similar) and building custom classification pipelines.
-
Solid data engineering fundamentals: comfortable working across large-scale warehouse (Snowflake/Databricks) and operational (MongoDB/DynamoDB/RDS) data.
-
Familiarity with privacy-by-design principles and working alongside legal/privacy stakeholders.
-
Strong communication skills: this role works cross-functionally with privacy legal, security, data analytics and data governance teams. * Direct experience with DataHub (Acryl Data or open source) or comparable metadata/catalog platforms.
-
Experience building and fine-tuning both rule-based and ML/LLM-based classifiers for structured and semi-structured data.
-
Prior experience in a data governance, privacy engineering or compliance-adjacent engineering role.
-
Background in gaming, consumer platform or other environments with large-scale player/user data.
