Job description
A large retail company is seeking an experienced Payment Systems Business Analyst / Product Owner to lead the requirements gathering, implementation, and ongoing management of our payment processor and gateway solutions. This critical role bridges business stakeholders, technology teams, and third-party payment vendors to deliver seamless, secure, and scalable payment experiences across all retail channels. The ideal candidate brings deep payments domain expertise combined with strong analytical, product ownership, and cross-functional leadership skills. This is a hybrid role based in Lincolnshire, IL, where candidates are required to work in the Lincolnshire office 2-3 days per week.
Requirements
8-10+ years in Business Analysis, Product Owner, or Product Manager roles focused on payment systems or fintech
- Proven experience leading at least one full-cycle payment processor or gateway implementation
- Hands-on expertise with retail POS systems, including EMV, contactless (NFC), and in-store integrations
- Multi-channel payments experience (in-store, e-commerce, mobile, kiosk, call center)
- Strong knowledge of payment concepts: tokenization, 3DS, chargebacks, settlement, and reconciliation
- Agile/Scrum proficiency with tools like Jira and Confluence
- Solid understanding of PCI-DSS compliance and payment data security
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with payment platforms such as Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, Worldpay, or PayPal

Knowledge of mobile POS (mPOS), digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and payment widgets

Familiarity with payment abstraction layers, routing logic, and multi-vendor environments

Exposure to Text-to-Pay, BNPL, or alternative payment methods

SQL skills for data analysis and reconciliation CBAP, CSPO, or similar certification

Global or multi-currency payments experience
