Job description

CGI is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to help drive quality across our data platforms and cloud-based applications. In this role, you'll build and enhance automated testing frameworks, validate complex data pipelines and ETL processes, and ensure data accuracy and reliability across AWS environments such as S3, Glue, and Redshift. You'll work closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps teams to integrate testing early in the development lifecycle, improve CI/CD processes, and troubleshoot issues before they reach production. We're looking for someone with strong Java automation experience, advanced SQL skills, and a passion for solving complex data and quality challenges. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on QA leader who enjoys mentoring others, driving best practices, and making a direct impact on enterprise-scale solutions.

This role can be located within proximity to the CGI office in Lafayette, LA OR Knoxville, TN.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reusable test automation frameworks for integration and end to end testing.

. Lead automated validation of ETL/ELT pipelines, including data reconciliation, schema validation, and data quality checks across large scale datasets.

. Validate batch and near real time data pipelines across cloud platforms, including AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift).

. Implement data quality checks and automation within CI/CD pipelines, defining quality gates for deployment readiness.

. Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, and DevOps teams to integrate testing early in the development lifecycle (shift left).

. Perform root cause analysis for defects, test failures, and data discrepancies, drive resolution, and process improvement.

. Develop test strategies, test plans, and risk based coverage models for complex data workflows.

. Leverage observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog) to validate system and data behavior, and application behavior in pre production and production environments.

. Mentor QA engineers and promote best practices in automation, coding standards, and quality engineering.

. Work closely with DevOps and Cloud teams to optimize test execution speed, reliability, and environment setup.

. Maintain detailed and comprehensive documentation for test frameworks, validation processes, and release readiness/validation steps.

. Support manual testing when needed to validate complex use cases or exploratory scenarios.

. Validate data pipelines, transformations, and large scale data processing for accuracy and completeness.

. Contribute to non functional testing strategies including performance, resilience, and basic security validation.

Requirements

7-10 years of experience in QA automation or quality engineering roles.

. Programming experience in Java and expertise in building automation frameworks.

. Advanced SQL skills with experience in data validation, profiling, and reconciliation.

. Proven experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines and validating large scale data systems.

. Familiarity with AWS cloud services, especially data services (S3, Glue, Redshift).

. Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).

. Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, shift left testing, and risk based testing approaches.

. Experience with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog).

. Proficiency with Git and testing frameworks.
