Job description

We're looking for a Senior Oracle DB Specialist to join our team in Madrid, Spain in a hybrid working mode. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and database architecture to support the integration of complex financial systems and ensure the stability of mission-critical platforms. You will act as a trusted technical partner, enabling smooth collaboration across business, engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver solutions for securities trading, order management, and secondary market operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead database-related aspects of integrating the order management system (IBM OTMS) with the future core banking platform
  • Support secondary market trading operational integrations by providing strong technical expertise
  • Deliver technical guidance across development and DevOps teams during system implementation phases
  • Collaborate with business analysts to identify functional requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions
  • Utilize Oracle PL/SQL expertise to optimize performance, streamline operations, and maintain high data integrity
  • Communicate effectively with external vendors (market data and exchange platforms) to ensure smooth business expansion and reliable systems integration
  • Contribute to strategic discussions regarding software solutions for our client's Order Management division
  • Maintain existing systems and proactively identify opportunities for technical enhancement

Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of securities trading processes, including primary and secondary markets across various asset classes (equities, fixed income, funds, structured products, ETFs, derivatives)
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments and money market transactions
  • Practical exposure to Bloomberg data (master data and pricing)
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies such as SAFe or Scrum
  • Strong Oracle PL/SQL 19+ development and performance tuning skills
  • Hands-on experience in Linux environments and Bash scripting for automation
  • Understanding of Java, .NET, or equivalent back-end technologies to interpret integration contexts
  • Solid grounding in messaging systems (Kafka, IBM MQ) and event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with financial messaging protocols like FIX and ISO20022
  • Experience in RESTful APIs, XML, JSON, and security mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, TLS)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitLab, Octopus) and distributed systems deployments; Kubernetes is a plus
  • Experience with system design, architecture and observability using Grafana and Prometheus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • English fluency (written and spoken)

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with IBM OTMS or similar order management platforms
  • Prior experience in the wealth management or private banking sector
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence for tracking and documentation
