Job description

As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll build elegant, performant, maintainable, operable and secure Golang microservices that power innovative financial products and services. You'll collaborate closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions, contribute to system design and architecture, champion engineering best practice, and help continuously improve development processes. You'll play a key role in building a connected platform, developing data-driven financial insights, enabling integrations with leading applications and services, and supporting the delivery of scalable, resilient systems that help customers better manage their money., Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion, supporting our customers, colleagues and communities. Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience developing backend applications in Golang
  • Experience building and supporting microservices architectures
  • Experience deploying and operating applications in containerised environments, ideally Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience working within agile development environments
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across the application stack, including network, server and database layers
  • Experience building concurrent, distributed applications at scale
  • Experience working with DevOps or SRE teams to support production environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A passion for learning, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality software

And it would be great if you had any of the following...

  • Experience with PHP
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or other messaging technologies
  • Experience with event-driven architectures
  • Experience of real-time, low-latency transaction-based systems
  • Knowledge of AWS, Docker and CI/CD practices
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB or BigQuery
  • Exposure to data platforms, ETL processes or machine learning-enabled products
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of other engineers
  • Previous experience within fintech, payments or a fast-paced startup environment
