Job description

This Senior Full-Stack Developer works on-site and is actively involved in all phases of the application development lifecycle, employing lean and agile principles. You'll write production code, contribute to architecture and design decisions, and help raise the bar for engineering quality across the team.

Our platform has served schools for over two decades, and we're in an active modernization phase: maintaining and extending a mature, large-scale production system while building its next generation on current frameworks. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across both-keeping a long-lived platform running smoothly while helping shape its replacement.

We're an AI-forward engineering shop. Our development team uses Anthropic's Claude Code - and we're looking for someone who is already fluent with AI-assisted development (Claude experience a plus) or eager to become so, and who can help us push the practice further.

You'll join a small, collaborative on-site team of developers and QA engineers, working closely with the founders and designers on product requirements and UX. We also work with a remote team that supports our front-end and mobile efforts. You'll report to the Software Engineering Manager and work closely with the founders on product direction.

Requirements

  • An enthusiastic self-starter who manages time well across new development and important troubleshooting.
  • Someone who cares about layered web architecture and scalable design patterns.
  • Comfortable adapting to evolving product priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Focused on excellent user experience and delivering real value.
  • Strong people, team, and communication skills, with a track record of driving software development excellence.

Must-have qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional full-stack web development.
  • 5+ years of experience with C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, MS-SQL, HTML, and CSS.
  • Deep experience with the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET MVC/API and .NET Core / Razor Pages).
  • Deep experience with modern frontend frameworks like Angular or React..
  • Solid experience architecting relational databases and writing complex MS-SQL, Dapper, or similar.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools for development; we utilize Claude Code, so familiarity with it is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum framework and values).
  • Familiarity with source control (Git/GitHub, Gitflow) and CI/CD practices.
  • Commitment to software best practices: testing, coding standards, code reviews, build processes, and maintenance.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly across new domains.
  • Good understanding of responsive design and responsive web apps.

Nice to have

  • Mobile development experience with Ionic/Capacitor or other cross-platform frameworks.
  • Experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications to current frameworks.
  • React experience.
  • jQuery experience.
  • Some experience with XML/XSLT.
  • Knowledge of school administration, student information, or school management software., * Scrum: 3 years (Required)
  • MS SQL: 3 years (Required)
  • middle-layer C#, ASP.NET MVC/API development: 5 years (Required)
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript web development: 5 years (Required)

Ability to Commute:

  • Foothill Ranch, CA (Required)
