Job description
- Integrate complex energy storage systems comprising multi-vendor hardware components in-house material and AEROS software to control them. Expertly operate and train others on the final product. Support field service and end-customer in all aspects of system operation.
- Participate in all aspects of test planning and execution on multiple projects. Prepare detailed factory integration and system acceptance test plans (FIT and SAT). Execute, maintain test cases, provide up-to-date test execution reports, and quality metrics to project stakeholders.
- Energy storage control modes and customer power plant controller (PPC) validation using SCADA and DNP3 protocols. Contribute script-based automation regression platforms for Linux based systems and web applications.
- Discover 'undocumented features' and maintain defect tracking database. Assist in documentation of system operation.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and work with the development team to address issues.
- Collaborate with developers to understand the services and features being built. Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings and provide input on testing timelines and accurate reporting on system integration progress.
- Maintain effective technical relationships across functions, within internal departments, with vendors and customers.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, testing methodologies, and tools. Propose and implement improvements to the testing process for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide support, both remote and on-site, for battery installations as they are being commissioned. Interact with internal and external customers to provide level 2 support and apply troubleshooting skills to resolve issues encountered with legacy sites.
Requirements
LGES Vertech is looking for a Senior System Integration and Test (SIT) Engineer to join the AEROS software integration and site support team. This is a critical and challenging role encompassing a broad range of responsibilities including test planning and execution, hardware and software integration of vendor equipment with in-house developed products, and concise cross-functional communication. Close interaction with software development, project engineering, service teams, and customers to resolve system issues is expected. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong Software Quality Assurance experience and demonstrated success delivering well-tested hybrid software and hardware systems., * Bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical engineering, or similar major or equivalent on the job training
- Minimum 5+ years experience in software hardware integration and controls testing
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems, and document processes and procedures to help others do the same
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and Bash for development and troubleshooting
- Comfortable with operation of the Linux environment and basic networking skill
- Clear and concise communication skills, verbally, and in writing.
- Demonstrated capability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-project environment.
In addition, experience with the following is desired:
- Battery management systems technology including high power inverters
- Fieldbus protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP. Networking protocols including SCADA and DNP3
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Fire Access Control Panel (FACP) and discrete I/O
- Automated regression testing methodologies and web-based tools
- Hands-on lab experience with hardware both low and high voltage
- Helpdesk or technical support roles to effectively address complex system issues
- Source control tools such as Subversion, GitHub, and JIRA for issue tracking
