Job description

The Systems Engineer III will play a key role in modernizing a cloud-native forecasting platform, designing and operating scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise systems in a remote work environment. This role builds and optimizes CI/CD pipelines, AWS cloud infrastructure, and Kubernetes-based deployments to enable reliable delivery of mission-critical applications, while driving automation, performance, and operational excellence across the environment. Success in this role means delivering resilient, fully automated systems that improve deployment speed, system stability, and end-to-end platform reliability in support of mission outcomes. Requirements: What You Will Do in This Role The Systems Engineer III designs, deploys, and supports modern cloud infrastructure and software platforms, driving automation, scalability, security, and operational excellence across enterprise environments. Responsibilities include: Manage CI/CD and automation processes supporting enterprise cloud environments. Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for micro-frontends and microservices. Implement automated testing, security scanning (SAST/DAST), and deployment workflows. Manage container builds and AWS Elastic Container Registry (ECR). Configure and maintain GitOps workflows. Implement blue-green and canary deployment strategies. Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code). Administer and optimize AWS services, including EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, CloudFront, API Gateway, and ALB. Implement auto-scaling, capacity planning, cost optimization, and disaster recovery solutions. Support multi-region cloud deployments to ensure scalability and resiliency. Analyze user requirements and system constraints to develop effective technical solutions. Consult with customers and stakeholders on project status, technical proposals, system design, and maintenance activities. Lead or support system testing, validation, programming, deployment, and technical documentation efforts. Create, manage, and deploy containerized applications across development, test, and production environments. Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, developers, and cybersecurity personnel to design and implement integrated solutions. Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to evaluate performance and predict design outcomes. Develop or direct software system testing, validation, programming, and documentation activities. Monitor system performance and operations to ensure compliance with technical specifications and service objectives. Perform configuration management of requirements, source code, and software baselines. Advise users on configuration management policies, standards, and procedures. Develop and maintain configuration management plans, policies, SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation. What You Will Bring

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Systems Engineering roles. Relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or equivalent). Hands-on experience with modern cloud-native technologies, including React micro-frontends, Python/Node.js microservices, AWS EKS, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and Docker/Kubernetes. Proven experience designing, developing, and implementing scalable software and cloud-based applications. Strong experience with CI/CD practices, automation, and release engineering in enterprise environments. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar) to support automation and system operations. Strong understanding of Software Configuration Management (SCM) principles and methodologies. In-depth knowledge of branching, merging, version control, and baselining strategies. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical and infrastructure challenges. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization. Work authorization/security clearance requirements
