Job description

The Salesforce Operations Manager serves as a key leader within the Office of Information Services, overseeing the governance, stability, and operational excellence of the Salesforce Government Cloud Plus (GovCloud+) platform that supports mission-critical services across ODJFS. This role is ideal for an experienced Salesforce platform leader who excels in coordinating complex administrative environments, guiding high-performing teams, and ensuring secure, scalable solutions that meet the needs of a rapidly expanding portfolio of agency applications.

In this role, you will lead the team responsible for administering and supporting multiple Salesforce applications, internal systems, and community portals used by a broad array of business partners. You will ensure platform stability, compliance with state and federal security requirements, and high-quality service delivery while managing licensing, vendor relationships, release readiness, and ongoing operational improvements across GovCloud+. Your leadership will drive the standardization, security, and evolution of the Salesforce ecosystem to support both current workloads and future enterprise growth.

You will oversee daily platform operations, guide governance decisions, manage staff performance, and collaborate with business units and technology partners to align Salesforce solutions with organizational needs. This position blends operational oversight with strategic direction, offering the opportunity to mature an enterprise Salesforce environment while elevating team capabilities and platform reliability.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee day-to-day administration and operational stability of the Salesforce GovCloud+ environments, ensuring production regions, schedules, and core services run reliably.
  • Coordinate, review, and approve all Salesforce configuration, metadata, and deployment activities to maintain governance standards and prevent disruption to production operations.
  • Manage user access, permission structures, and security controls-ensuring compliance, data integrity, and adherence to platform guardrails.
  • Monitor platform performance, logs, integrations, and security events; lead troubleshooting and escalation with Salesforce Support and vendors to resolve high-impact issues.
  • Guide environment planning, sandbox refresh cycles, release readiness, and deployment sequencing to ensure continuity of batch processes and system workflows during updates.
  • Maintain compliant data management and backup strategies using approved backup tools, ensuring recoverability, continuity, and protection of critical production data.
  • Coordinate with integration teams and other technical units to ensure connected systems and APIs run current, stable versions within production schedules.
  • Supervise and mentor Salesforce administrators, providing direction, technical oversight, problem-solving support, and ensuring adherence to operational standards.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for Salesforce licensing, renewals, and vendor coordination, ensuring resource planning aligns with operational and budget needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce operational standards, procedures, documentation, and performance reporting that support reliable production management and continuous improvement., Location: This position will be headquartered in an ODJFS Facility in one of the following cities - Columbus, Akron, or Dayton. This determination will take into account the proximity to the applicant's home address.

Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science, or completion of undergraduate core coursework in any academic major which included at least one course in each of the following: advanced-level computer programming language (for example, COBOL, Delphi, Java, Powerbuilder, Visual Basic, Pl 1, SAS PCS, Pacbase, Full Visual Suite, Designer 2000, Developer 2000, C, C++, Visual C, ECL, or Visual Studio), logic-based mathematics, data base concepts (for example, Oracle, Microsoft Access, Paradox, Sybase, IMS DB, DB2, Cache, DMS, or RDMS), computer systems analysis & design, & basic data processing concepts;
  • AND Additional 6 1/2 years (78 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required as outlined in approved position description on file for position to be filled as advertised in job posting;
  • AND 18 mos. exp. in performing project management functions as defined in series purpose.

Option 2:

  • 8 1/2 years (102 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required as outlined in approved position description on file for position to be filled as advertised in job posting;
  • AND 18 months exp. in performing project management functions as defined in series purpose.

Option 3:

  • 12 mos. exp. as Information Technology Supervisor 3, 64119, or equivalent.

Option 4:
