Job description
This position blends advanced COMSEC expertise with multi-layer network engineering to ensure mission-ready, secure communications across complex environments. Individuals will apply detailed technical knowledge of COMSEC equipment, communications protocols, and network infrastructure to support installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and functional checkout of hardware/software configurations. - Technical Integration - Apply deep expertise in space and terrestrial communications protocols to mitigate technical and programmatic risks during COMSEC system integration.
- Systems Operations - Execute precise configuration, operation, and performance testing on COMSEC systems to ensure mission readiness.
- MaintenanceTroubleshooting - Perform fault isolation, troubleshooting, and maintenance actions to restore systems to peak functionality.
- Functional Validation - Conduct comprehensive functional checkouts of hardware/software configurations to meet rigorous security specifications.
Network OperationsEngineering
- LAN/WAN Support - Support installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
- Incident Response - Respond to and resolve incidents; demonstrate strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Change Management - Draft and implement standard network change requests.
- Enterprise Level Support - Support end users with incident management, site surveys, TEMS, and new equipment installation.
- Configuration Management - Update topology drawings, maintain accurate asset records, and conduct inventory.
Technical Networking Skills
- Layer 1 Networking - CAT5/6, SM/MM fiber, serial cables, SFPs.
- Layer 2 Networking - Configure/troubleshoot switches, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security.
- Layer 3 Networking - Subnetting; familiarity with OSPF, BGP, GRE and general routing best practices
- SwitchingIOS Upgrades - Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco.
- VM Lifecycle Management - Ability to provision, manage, and allocate resources for Virtual Machines (VMs) and guest OS installations.
Requirements
- Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance or eligible to obtain.
- Compliance with DoD 8140 IAT Level II requirements.
- Practical experience installing and operating COMSEC equipment within secure communications architectures.
- Familiarity with utilizing Encryption Fill devices (Simple Key Loader, Tactical Key Loader)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of cryptographic key management and secure transport solutions.
- Familiarity with fundamental cryptography concepts, including the management, lifecycle, and secure handling of public and private encryption keys.
- Working knowledge of modern cryptographic protocols and secure communication standards such as HAIPE, IPsec, cryptographic algorithms, over-the-network-keying, and over-the-air-transfer.
- Experience with automated network testing platforms, with direct experience utilizing Spirent environments or equivalent industry-standard traffic generators
- Strong proficiency in scripting with Python and PowerShell to support automation and change management.
