Job description
We are looking for an experienced Principal Database Engineer to join our engineering team supporting mission-critical enterprise applications in the financial services domain.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on designing, administering, optimizing, and troubleshooting large-scale Microsoft SQL Server environments while collaborating closely with Java development teams to deliver highly available, secure, and high-performing applications.

- Analyze and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, execution plans, and indexing strategies.
- Collaborate with Java/Spring Boot development teams to improve application and database performance.
- Troubleshoot performance issues across SQL Server, Java applications, and AWS infrastructure.
- Design and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions using SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
- Configure and support replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Monitor database health, performance, and capacity using industry-standard monitoring tools.
- Support enterprise reporting platforms, ETL processes, and high-volume transactional systems.
- Develop automation scripts using T-SQL and PowerShell.
- Implement database security, governance, and operational best practices.
- Participate in production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Architects, Developers, Infrastructure, and DevOps Engineers., * Do you have 10+ years of hands on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in Enterprise production environments?
- Do you have Professional experience supporting Java/Spring Boot applications and optimizing SQL Server performance for enterprise systems?
- Have you worked in Finacial Services, Banking, Capital Markets or a technology consulting environment supporting mission critical production platforms?
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments.
- Strong experience supporting Java-based enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and JDBC.

- Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience supporting AWS-hosted database environments.
- Knowledge of Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and enterprise ETL processes.
- Experience working in UNIX/Linux production environments.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Financial Services, Banking, Capital Markets, Brokerage, or Wealth Management.
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting platforms and large-scale transactional systems.
- Exposure to AWS Lambda, Apache Parquet, and cloud-native data solutions.
- Microsoft SQL Server and/or AWS certifications.
- Prior experience working within a technology consulting environment.
