Job description
You'll be an engineer other technicians escalate to when something doesn't add up, the one leading infrastructure projects from scoping through cutover, and a familiar face at our key client sites across the region. You'll split your time between our office, client locations, and remote support - with the judgment to know when each is needed.
What You'll Do
-
Own escalations from Tier 1/2 support - diagnose and resolve the network, server, and infrastructure issues that stump the rest of the team
-
Design and lead infrastructure projects for clients: network builds, server migrations, cloud transitions, and security hardening
-
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for a portfolio of client accounts, translating business needs into IT solutions
-
Maintain and improve network environments with diverse hardware ecosystems - routing, switching, firewalls, IoT and wireless - across multiple client sites.
-
Mentor Tier 1/2 engineers and technicians, building the bench strength of the team
-
Keep documentation, network diagrams, and SOPs current for every environment you touch
-
Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours critical incidents
Requirements
Required:
-
7+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure or network engineering experience
-
2+ years supporting multiple clients or business units in an MSP or similar environment
-
Working knowledge and experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 / Azure administration
-
Demonstratable cybersecurity awareness, and the ability to work within written company policies and procedures
-
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Meraki and Fortinet FortiGate environments - switching, firewalls, SD-WAN, and VPN
-
Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V) and network storage systems
-
A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites across Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut
Preferred:
-
Experience with AWS, in addition to Azure/Microsoft 365
-
NSE (Fortinet) or Meraki/Cisco certification (CCNA/CCNP)
-
Security certifications (Security+, CISSP, or similar)
-
Experience with PSA/RMM tooling (HaloPSA, NinjaRMM preferred)
-
PowerShell or other scripting experience for automation
