Job description
- Build, configure, deploy, maintain, and decommission physical and virtual Windows Servers.
- Manage and support enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate server administration and improve operational efficiency.
- Administer core Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Support and maintain VMware vSphere infrastructure, with Hyper-V experience also considered.
- Carry out Windows Server patching, upgrades, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
- Investigate and resolve server and infrastructure incidents, including root cause analysis where required.
- Support infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, and server refresh activities.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation while working within ITIL service management processes.
- Participate in an on-call rota and occasional planned out-of-hours maintenance.

- Microsoft Intune, We are recruiting for a Server Engineer to join a leading organisation in the Financial Services sector. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative infrastructure team within a secure enterprise environment, supporting business-critical systems and contributing to infrastructure upgrades and transformation projects. The role is based in Central London with 2-3 days onsite per week. We also offer the opportunity to work on a range of infrastructure projects and participate in a referral scheme with a potential reward of up to £1,000 if a referral is successful.
Requirements
- Active SC Clearance is required.
- Proven experience as a Server Engineer, Windows Infrastructure Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Strong experience with Windows Server administration in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, maintaining, and decommissioning physical and virtual servers.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- VMware vSphere administration experience; Hyper-V knowledge is beneficial.
- Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Experience with Windows Server patch management, operating system lifecycle management, and infrastructure security best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with experience supporting critical server infrastructure.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
