Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Controls Software Engineer to support a hyperscale data center program. This role will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA in order to work directly with our engineering consulting team. These roles will support PLC programming, Ignition SCADA development, BMS / BAS and EPMS integration, graphics development, alarm configuration, historian setup, system testing, and commissioning support across multiple data halls and critical infrastructure systems.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a hands-on controls software engineer who can write clean, scalable code, translate design intent into reliable system operation, and support fast-paced commissioning execution. This person must be comfortable troubleshooting in the field, coordinating with hardware and commissioning teams, and maintaining disciplined software documentation in a mission-critical environment., 15+ years of controls, automation, or software integration experience

5+ years of leading and managing similar team projects.

Experience developing PLC, DDC, BMS, BAS, EPMS, SCADA, or industrial automation software.

Working knowledge of Ignition SCADA, Allen-Bradley PLCs, BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, alarms, trends, tags, graphics, and historian functions.

Ability to interpret control drawings, points lists, sequences of operation, network diagrams, and equipment integration requirements.

Experience supporting startup, commissioning, point validation, functional testing, and issue resolution.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Hyperscale data center, mission-critical facility, industrial automation, or large campus controls experience.

Experience with Ignition templates, UDT structures, alarm pipelines, historian configuration, and scalable SCADA architecture.

Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 / Logix platforms or comparable PLC environments.

Familiarity with Procore, SharePoint, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or structured project documentation tools.

Experience supporting L3-L5 commissioning, integrated systems testing, and owner / commissioning agent witness testing.
