Job description
Insight Global is seeking a Component Test Engineer to support component- and system-level testing of vehicle interior and seating systems from concept development through program release. This role will focus heavily on the durability, reliability, and functional performance of seat assemblies, plastics, actuators, and other interior components. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in both laboratory and office environments while managing competing priorities and aggressive timelines. This position will be approximately 80% hands-on lab testing and 20% computer-based analysis and documentation, with responsibilities spanning test execution, automation testing, root cause investigation, data analysis, and validation of interior system performance. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate component behavior, develop test fixtures, analyze failures, and support design improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
This role can pay $60-$66.21/hr
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field -1+ years of relevant testing experience in automotive, manufacturing, robotics, medical devices, consumer products, or similar industries -Experience performing component-level testing and validation -Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of physical systems and instrumentation -Experience designing and developing test fixtures -Programming experience with Python -Experience using MATLAB -Experience with Data Acquisition (DAQ) equipment and test instrumentation -Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot hardware issues -Understanding of mechanical systems, reliability testing, and validation methodologies
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
-Experience with automotive interior, seating, or actuator systems -Durability, reliability, or vibration testing experience -Experience working with springs, motors, sensors, or electromechanical systems -Test automation experience -Experience with CATIA and/or SolidWorks -JIRA experience -Knowledge of CAN communication systems -Experience with LabVIEW, Dewesoft, or other test software platforms
