Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux/Android HAL & VHAL Developer with extensive experience in Android Automotive OS (AAOS), Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and Embedded Linux. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) components that enable seamless communication between Android Automotive and vehicle hardware systems. The role requires strong expertise in embedded software development, C/C++, Linux internals, and automotive communication protocols., * Design, develop, and maintain Android HAL and VHAL components for Android Automotive OS (AAOS).

  • Develop software interfaces between Android framework and vehicle hardware modules.
  • Integrate vehicle functions such as HVAC, climate control, battery management, vehicle speed, sensors, cameras, and infotainment systems.
  • Customize and optimize Android Automotive (AAOS/AOSP) for automotive platforms.
  • Develop and maintain embedded Linux software components and middleware.
  • Implement and maintain HIDL and AIDL interfaces for Android services.
  • Work closely with hardware, BSP, kernel, and application development teams.
  • Debug and resolve software issues using log analysis, debugging tools, and performance profiling.
  • Integrate automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, and SOME/IP.
  • Participate in system integration, software validation, and performance optimization.
  • Support software bring-up, board support package (BSP) integration, and device configuration.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to support software testing and validation.
  • Follow Agile/Scrum development methodologies and participate in code reviews.
  • Prepare technical documentation and contribute to software architecture discussions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
  • Hands-on experience developing Android HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) and Vehicle HAL (VHAL).
  • Strong programming skills in C and C++.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux development.
  • Knowledge of Android Framework, Binder IPC, HIDL, and AIDL.
  • Experience with Linux kernel concepts and device drivers.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, and SOME/IP.
  • Experience with Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills., * Experience with Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) or QNX.
  • Knowledge of Yocto build system.
  • Experience with ECU integration and BSP development.
  • Familiarity with Android security architecture and SELinux.
  • Exposure to automotive standards such as AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, and ASPICE.
  • Experience with HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing and software validation.
  • Experience with OTA (Over-the-Air) software update frameworks.
