Job description
The BI Developer / Engineer works closely with monitoring, cybersecurity, service desk, and engineering teams to enable data-driven decision making, analytics maturity, and real-time insight into system performance and operational health. This position also manages automated data ingestion, modeling, transformations, and dashboard optimization., The BI Developer / Engineer will:

Design, build, and maintain dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or similar BI tools.

Implement automated data pipelines and ETL processes that support operational reporting.

Build dashboards for availability, incidents, service desk KPIs, operational metrics, and security events.

Develop data models, transformations, and shared datasets used across reporting teams.

Integrate data from monitoring platforms, incident management systems, logs, and operational databases.

Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and refresh reliability across all dashboards.

Collaborate with IT operations, cybersecurity, cloud, and service desk teams to define reporting requirements.

Support trend analysis, forecasting, and performance insights for leadership.

Maintain documentation for data sources, dashboards, metrics definitions, and reporting templates.

Optimize dashboard performance and ensure compliance with accessibility, governance, and federal reporting standards.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience (Required)

Minimum 5 years of experience in BI development, data engineering, analytics, or related fields.

Experience developing dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or similar BI platforms.

Experience building automated data pipelines and ETL workflows.

Experience supporting reporting needs in enterprise IT or federal environments.
Technical Knowledge (Required)

Proficiency in dashboard development and data visualization.

Strong SQL and ETL development skills.

Knowledge of data modeling, dataset optimization, and automated refresh schedules.

Experience integrating data from monitoring, ticketing, and operational systems.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)

Experience with cloud data services such as AWS or Azure.

Familiarity with log analytics platforms or observability tools.

Knowledge of DAX, M Query, or scripting languages used for BI automation.
