Job description
- Profile and optimize perception and robotics algorithms for real-time execution on Jetson-class hardware, balancing latency, throughput, and memory across the full pipeline.
- Write and tune custom CUDA kernels and accelerate compute-heavy workloads - point-cloud processing, geometry, and fusion - alongside neural-network inference (e.g., TensorRT).
- Build and maintain simulation infrastructure and scenario-based test suites - covering navigation as well as docking and robotic-arm charging sequences - so autonomy changes can be validated repeatably before they reach a robot.
- Build data and ML infrastructure: data collection from fleet operation, dataset management, training and evaluation pipelines, and performance monitoring.
- Improve system-level robustness - deterministic startup, logging and replay for post-incident investigation, and stability under load.
Shared across the autonomy team:
- Collaborate with the robotics, controls, embedded-software, and hardware teams to develop and integrate new capabilities into the autonomous stack, respecting the boundary between the intelligence layer and the independent safety layer.
- Validate work through simulation and on-site testing on real hardware; analyze performance and iterate.
- Write and maintain production-quality code (Python and/or C++) within a ROS2-based system.
You'll also work alongside - and can grow into:
- Perception and localization, whose pipelines you'll profile and accelerate.
- Planning and navigation, whose behavior you'll help validate through simulation and replay.
- Precision docking and automated charging, where you'll help measure and drive end-to-end cycle reliability and timing.
- Tuning of configurable runtime parameters (e.g., safety distances, speed limits, cost weights).
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field - with demonstrated systems or autonomous-systems experience through projects, research, professional work, or internships. Depth of hands-on experience matters more than degree level.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, with real experience writing and profiling performance-critical, real-time code.
- Hands-on GPU optimization experience: CUDA kernel development, profiling and tooling on NVIDIA platforms (e.g., Jetson), and inference optimization such as TensorRT or ONNX.
- Working knowledge of robotics algorithms - perception, state estimation, and planning - sufficient to optimize them without breaking their behavior.
- Experience with ROS2 (or comparable robotics middleware), including build systems, QoS/transport behavior, logging, and replay.
- Experience with robotics simulation (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim) and/or CI and test automation for robotics or ML systems is a strong plus.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, cross-functional team, with a first-principles, analytical approach to problem-solving.
- A drive to take algorithms from prototype to real-world deployment on physical hardware.

About the company
At EnerRenew, we are accelerating the future of clean energy with solutions that integrate power generation and mobility. Our portfolio includes WINDTRACKER, a patented vertical-axis wind turbine system; an AI-driven Energy Management System; and X-Caddie, an autonomous mobile energy-storage and EV-charging robot designed for flexible, on-demand deployment in parking lots and campuses. With teams across the U.S. and China, we pair strong engineering with rapid product development to deliver intelligent, efficient energy solutions., We are seeking a Robotics Software Engineer focused on performance optimization and autonomy infrastructure for X-Caddie - a skid-steer autonomous mobile robot (AMR). You will own how fast, how reliably, and how reproducibly the autonomy stack runs: squeezing real-time performance out of embedded GPU hardware, and building the simulation, data, and validation infrastructure the rest of the team develops against. This is a hands-on robotics software role at the intersection of systems engineering and robotics algorithms. Because X-Caddie carries an onboard battery and operates around people, this is a safety-critical system, and you'll work within a safety architecture and toward relevant certification requirements.
