We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused IT Support Engineer to join our IT Modern Workplace team in Haydock. You'll play a key role in shaping and supporting our modern workplace environment, ensuring colleagues can collaborate effectively, work securely, and stay productive wherever they are.

If you're passionate about Microsoft 365 technologies, enjoy improving user experience, and want to be part of a forward-thinking IT function - we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As part of our Modern Workplace team, you'll:

  • Resolve incidents and service requests raised through the Service Desk within agreed SLAs with a focus on root cause analysis and continual improvement
  • Install, rebuild, repair, and upgrade laptops, desktop computers and peripherals
  • Assist with new office setups, relocations, and hardware rollouts
  • Manage and optimise device management through Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager, including configuration, compliance, and security policies
  • Support Microsoft Teams telephony and contact centre solutions, including call queues, auto attendants, and voice-related troubleshooting to ensure reliable communication services
  • Deliver high-quality support and engineering across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Support and enhance the end-user experience across laptops, mobile devices, and collaboration tools
  • Administer Entra ID (Azure AD), including identity, access, and conditional access policies
  • Support modern workplace initiatives, such as device rollouts, Autopilot deployments, and Windows lifecycle management
  • Implement and maintain security and compliance controls across endpoints and M365 services
  • Contribute to automation and standardisation using tools such as PowerShell
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, contribute to knowledge sharing, and follow change control processes
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to deliver scalable, reliable workplace services

Requirements

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a passion for user experience and continuous improvement. You'll bring a proactive mindset and a collaborative approach.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience in a Modern Workplace or End User Computing role
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager and device lifecycle management
  • Experience with Windows 10/11, Autopilot, and modern deployment methodologies
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Phone and/or contact centre platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive)
  • Understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), identity, and access management
  • Knowledge of endpoint security, patching, and compliance best practices
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation (desirable)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-first mindset
  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and remain calm under pressure
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support multiple sites where required

Benefits & conditions

  • 95% discount across the Speedy brand
  • Ongoing training, certifications, and career progression opportunities
