Job description
We are seeking a Solution Architect to support a strategic, high-volume client environment. This role will support critical business and technology initiatives with a focus on delivering pragmatic, scalable, and secure solution architectures. The ideal candidate will provide architecture leadership across multiple major initiatives, operating at both strategic and tactical levels to translate business objectives into architecture direction and enable effective implementation by engineering teams., * Lead the creation of conceptual and logical architecture solutions for assigned initiatives, including portal solutions and interfaces.
- Develop architectures covering software, hardware, communication flows, and integration points to support both initial requirements and future needs.
- Translate business requirements into solution designs spanning applications, integrations, APIs, data flows, infrastructure, and security.
- Evaluate and define solution options for new capabilities, legacy enhancements, and hybrid environments.
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to ensure architecture decisions are grounded in business value and technical feasibility.
- Drive architecture decisions in collaboration with Enterprise Architects, Engineering Leads, and delivery teams.
- Assess business needs, technology options, and timeline constraints to guide stakeholders through complex decisions and tradeoffs.
- Anticipate and address non-functional requirements such as performance, resiliency, security, and scalability.
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
Experience: Candidates must have 5+ years of solution architecture experience with service-oriented and application-centric solutions. A minimum of 10+ years of overall IT experience is required, including at least 5 years in software development or application architecture. Experience must include one of the following domains: Claims, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), or Medicare, particularly with state projects or similar government programs.
Technical Skills:
- Solution Architecture, cloud experience (AWS or Google Cloud Platform), and microservices.
- Experience designing a range of solution types, including new system builds, legacy modernization, and COTS/SaaS integrations.
- Proficiency in solution design patterns, architecture methods, and modern application/integration approaches.
- Experience with Agile Lean Architecture and operating in iterative delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of API design (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka), and distributed integration patterns.
- Familiarity with modern application development landscapes including Java, Angular, and React.
Soft Skills:
- Personable with strong collaboration and communication skills, with an ability to build rapport across business and technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and communicate technical options effectively to stakeholders.
- A consultative mindset with strong recommendation and decision-making capabilities.
- Comfortable acting as a versatile architect rather than a deep technical specialist., * An advanced degree is preferred.
- Previous experience with the client.
- Experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), healthcare, Medicaid, or other highly regulated domains.
- Experience supporting claims adjudication or other high-volume transactional healthcare platforms.
- Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).
- Experience designing for large-scale, high-availability environments.
- Experience in cloud transformation and modernization.
