Job description
We are seeking an experienced Python Software Engineer to support a mission-critical government program in Herndon, VA. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python development, Linux environments, Ansible automation, and SELinux administration. This role requires designing, developing, automating, and securing enterprise applications and infrastructure while working within a highly secure environment., * Design, develop, test, and maintain Python applications supporting mission-critical systems.
- Develop automation solutions using Ansible for system provisioning, deployment, and configuration management.
- Implement and maintain SELinux policies to ensure secure Linux environments.
- Develop Linux automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity engineers, and software development teams.
- Troubleshoot software, automation, and system issues across Linux environments.
- Participate in code reviews and follow secure software development best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation and support deployment activities.
- Ensure compliance with government security standards and organizational policies.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance Polygraph (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Python development
- Experience developing applications and automation on Linux platforms
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation
- Strong knowledge of SELinux policies, security hardening, and troubleshooting
- Experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting (Bash)
- Experience using Git or other version control systems
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
- Experience with REST APIs and microservices
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or OpenStack)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Security certifications such as Security+, RHCSA/RHCE, or related certifications, * Python
