Job description
Empowering Technology Solutions (ETS) is hiring a Systems Administrator for our Bloomington, Illinois location. This is an in-person role focused on delivering high-quality technical support and systems administration for small and mid-sized business environments. You'll handle escalations, maintain and improve client systems, and represent ETS professionally during onsite and remote work.
This role is a great fit for someone who is customer-service driven, highly accountable, and technically strong-someone who can solve today's issue while also reducing the chance it returns.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert technical support across a broad range of technologies: hardware, software, Microsoft 365, identity, networking, backups, and security tooling.
- Perform onsite support as needed for client visits, project work, troubleshooting, installs, and planned changes
- Execute project and service work using ETS systems and standards (ticketing, documentation, time entry, and escalation paths)
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across diverse client environments while maintaining strong communication and professionalism
- Identify recurring issues and technical gaps, document findings clearly, and escalate patterns that should be addressed through proactive remediation or projects
- Maintain and improve documentation so environments remain supportable (ticket notes, configuration details, diagrams/runbooks/KB updates as needed)
- Partner with the broader ETS team (Service Desk, Professional Services, and Customer Success) to ensure strong handoffs, clear priorities, and consistent client outcomes
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support client needs outside normal business hours when required
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional IT experience (MSP/managed IT strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of business IT environments infrastructure and modern work environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Strong organization, time management, and ability to balance multiple priorities; comfortable with time tracking.
- High accountability and follow-through (you verify, you close the loop, you don't pass uncertainty downstream).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for onsite client visits.
Preferred
- MSP / managed IT experience in a technical role
- Familiarity with MSP operations and tools such as ConnectWise Manage, NinjaRMM, and IT Glue (or similar)
- Experience with common MSP platforms and technologies such as Meraki, Sophos, 3CX, and backup/BCDR solutions (Axcient/Datto, Acronis, etc.)
- Comfort using AI tools to improve documentation, analysis, and efficiency
Technical Experience (Strong Working Knowledge)
Candidates should have working knowledge of technologies commonly supported in MSP environments, including:
- Microsoft ecosystem: Windows 10/11, Windows Server (2019/2022), Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Microsoft 365, Exchange concepts, Intune, Conditional Access, Entra ID
- Networking & security fundamentals: WAN/LAN, Layer 2/3 concepts, VPN (SSL/IPSec), firewall fundamentals, QoS basics
- Infrastructure & recovery: VMware and/or Hyper-V fundamentals, Azure-hosted environments familiarity, backup/BCDR concepts and restore validation
- MSP platforms/tools (examples): ConnectWise Manage, NinjaRMM, IT Glue; Meraki or Ubiquiti/UniFi; Sophos; 3CX; Axcient/Datto BCDR, Acronis, DropSuite (or similar)
You do not need to be an expert in every platform listed. We value strong fundamentals, solid troubleshooting, and the ability to learn quickly while following standards and documenting clearly., * IT support: 3 years (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
