Job description
A System Administrator (SysAdmin) is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing an organization's IT infrastructure. This role ensures that servers, networks, applications, and end-user systems operate reliably, securely, and efficiently., Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows, Linux, or both)
- Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.)
- Oversee storage systems, backups, and disaster recovery processes
Security & Compliance
- Apply OS and application patches
- Monitor security alerts and respond to incidents
- Manage identity and access (Active Directory, Azure AD, IAM tools)
- Enforce security policies and compliance standards
Network Administration
- Support LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and optimize network performance
User & Endpoint Support
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated technical issues
- Manage endpoint devices via MDM/Intune/Group Policy
- Deploy and maintain business applications
Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor system performance and capacity
- Implement improvements to increase reliability and efficiency
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and asset inventories
Collaboration
- Work with security, development, and operations teams
- Support IT projects such as migrations, upgrades, and rollouts
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing)
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python is a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Typical Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (optional but common)
- 2-5+ years of system administration or IT operations experience
- Relevant certifications are a plus:
- Microsoft (AZ-104, MS-102)
- CompTIA (Network+, Security+, Server+)
- VMware VCP
- Cisco CCNA
