Job description
Global Cyber Security's role is to inspire trust and confidence in our customers by enabling secure connectivity. Our purpose is to proactively protect Vodafone and its customers by reducing the risks posed by security threats to Vodafone's global technology infrastructure and the sensitive data it holds. Within the Cyber Prevent domain, the Cyber Software, Network and Automation Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, delivery and operational management of automated security platforms that support Vodafone's global cyber security posture. The role leads the development and operation of security tooling that replaces manual verification with automated assurance. This includes platforms capable of validating infrastructure configurations, detecting non-compliance, supporting predefined and user-defined security policies, and producing meaningful risk-based reporting for technical and senior stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Responsible for the technical direction, design and development of multiple Vodafone cyber security platforms that automate the monitoring, detection and reporting of network and infrastructure compliance against Vodafone cyber security policies. The role combines network security, software engineering, automation and DevOps expertise to ensure security standards are implemented consistently across Vodafone's global technology estate.
Leadership and Teamwork
- Works closely with the Cyber Prevent Domain Leadership team, Cyber Security Platform Managers, Secure by Design teams and globally distributed Cyber Security and Technology teams to ensure platforms are globally consistent, operationally effective and delivering measurable risk reduction. Provides technical leadership across delivery workstreams, supporting engineers and stakeholders to translate complex security requirements into practical platform outcomes.
Innovation and Change
- Designs and develops in-house security tooling to replace manual verification of network device compliance with automated, scalable and repeatable assurance capabilities. Drives automation and innovation across DevOps, network security, vulnerability remediation and reporting to improve efficiency, coverage and risk reduction across Vodafone's global network estate.
Customers, Suppliers and Third Parties
- Engages with central Technology teams, global Cyber Security teams, Secure by Design, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure the Device Operational Assurance platform meets operational requirements and supports Vodafone's broader cyber security strategy and roadmap. Communicates complex technical issues clearly, providing concise summaries, recommendations and delivery updates to support effective decision-making.

- Successful design, development and deployment of multiple cyber security tooling and automation platforms.
- Improved network and infrastructure compliance levels against Vodafone cyber security policies and standards.
Who you are
- Proven experience using APIs and shell and Python scripting.
- Experience in large Tech Comm or Telecom carriers or Telecom vendors.
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in a relevant field e.g., IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, Telecoms or relevant working experience.
Desired:
- SAFe certification
- Security Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, GSEC
- Knowledge of DevSecOps
