Job description

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing group for a Senior IT Technician to take ownership of IT infrastructure across two manufacturing sites in the West Midlands.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining and developing the IT environment while supporting around 120 users across both sites. You'll split your time between locations in West Bromwich and Willenhall, working closely with all areas of the business to ensure systems remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory and Microsoft 365
  • Supporting Azure/Entra ID, Intune and Exchange Online
  • Maintaining network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs and Wi-Fi
  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support
  • Leading cybersecurity initiatives including MFA, patch management and endpoint protection
  • Managing backups, disaster recovery and system resilience
  • Delivering infrastructure improvement projects and upgrades
  • Working with third-party IT suppliers and managing hardware procurement
  • Supporting ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment
  • Producing IT documentation and promoting best practice across the business

Requirements

You'll ideally have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in IT Infrastructure
  • Previous experience in a Senior or Lead IT position
  • Strong Microsoft 365 and Windows Server administration skills
  • Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID and Intune experience
  • Good networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Firewalls)
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or engineering businesses (desirable)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence as travel between sites is required.

If you're looking for a role where you'll have real ownership of the IT environment rather than simply providing support, we'd love to hear from you.
