Job description

You will focus on Software Toolchain Development-developing software, tools, and automation scripts to support and optimize the workflow for a control system development team. Based in Peterborough, your work will directly improve software quality, expand automation, and streamline development and testing processes., * Toolchain & Automation: Build, test, debug, and document software applications, CI/CD pipelines, and automated test frameworks.

  • Workflow Optimization: Translate engineering needs into clear software tasks to enhance control system development workflows.
  • Quality & Traceability: Collaborate with engineers, developers, and testers using modern tools (Git, Azure DevOps, VS Code, GitHub Copilot) to improve software quality and efficiency.
  • Knowledge & Practices: Apply modern development practices, perform unit testing and code reviews, and drive efficient data handling.

Requirements

  • Core Skills: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline with strong knowledge of coding, debugging, unit testing, and version control.
  • Engineering & Automation Support: Strong interest or experience in software development, automation, and modern engineering tools.
  • Problem Solver: Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bonus Points: Useful experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, build automation, agentic workflows, or control system environments.
