Job description

We're partnering with a Tech for Good business, who are developing mission-critical mobile and cloud-based solution at scale across the business. Their products support users in real-time environments where reliability, performance and resilience are essential. With their brand-new, cloud-native platform now built, they are embarking on an exciting new phase: rebuilding their mobile apps from the ground up. They are looking for a skilled Android Developer to join the team, to help deliver a fast, reliable, and safety-critical customer experience. Why this role is exciting:

What you will do as an Android Developer:

  • Design, implement, and maintain new product features with a strong focus on Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Architecture Components).
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Mobile Developer, Product, QA, and backend teams to deliver robust API integrations and end-to-end solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence on Android-managing crash/ANR reduction, background execution constraints (Foreground Services, WorkManager), and reliable background location handling.
  • Embrace modern delivery practices, including CI/CD, feature flags, incremental rollouts, and AI-assisted development tooling.

Requirements

  • Strong Android Fundamentals: Experience as an Android Developer, having commercial experience building native Android apps (Kotlin/Java, Android Studio, Play Store releases) and a willingness to learn or work across iOS over time.
  • Deep Platform Knowledge: Solid understanding of Android background execution, battery optimization, and location handling (FusedLocationProviderClient).
  • Integration & Quality: Experience with secure REST APIs, OAuth2/SSO, automated testing, and code reviews.
  • AI Enthusiast: Experience working with agentic models and AI-embedded workflows to accelerate engineering output.
