Job description
· Research, design, develop, and test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military or scientific use. Responsible for supervising the manufacturing and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components. The technical skills include knowledge of computer software and hardware.
Technical duties include:
· Help to setup and monitor data closet equipment including servers and UPS.
· Monitor and report on general site health status including data closet equipment, servers, network, and clients.
· Assist with the running of cables and provide guidance to local team on cable runs and termination.
· Escort vendors within the site so they can do maintenance tasks on data closet systems.
· Assist the site lead with server operations as needed.
· Set up new servers and clients according to documented processes.
· Perform standard maintenance tasks on clients and servers including patches, agent install, and incident troubleshooting.
· Maintain and document all network IDF changes and port mappings.
· Collaborate with the plant staff to foster open communication with CBS and ensure all devices on site at used in accordance with CBS IT best practices.
· Position is 100% on site, with the primary location being the Mineral Point, WI, but also supporting additional the Stoughton, and Janesville sites., · Instruct and assign staff to provide technical support to designers, marketing and sales departments, suppliers, engineers and other team members throughout the product development and implementation process
· Assign the testing and verification of hardware and support peripherals to staff to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements
· Oversee the build, testing, and modification of product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation
· Assign staff to analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware
· Direct technicians, engineering designers or other technical support personnel as needed
· Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system
Requirements
· Windows XP through 11, and server 2008 through 2019
· Familiarity with antivirus systems, Active directory, and basic windows security settings
· Have a basic understanding of network infrastructure including TCP/IP, switching, and common network devices.
· Proficiency with common IT software such as MS OFFICE, Telnet/Putty clients, remote desktop, and online tools (Teams/SharePoint) is required. This also involves utilizing imaging software for computer backup and recovery.
Education/Experience
· Bachelor degree in computer science or related field or equivalent training/education required
· 8-10 years customer service related experience required Responsibility level
· Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor
