Job description

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by developing enterprise data processing and knowledge management solutions that enable mission-critical intelligence operations. This role designs and maintains Java-based applications, ETL workflows, and data transformation services that curate and deliver enterprise data for analytical use. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, the role supports modern analytics frameworks, enterprise data integration, and AI-assisted software development to accelerate mission capabilities and engineering efficiency., Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.

  • Develop and support ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes that curate and transform enterprise data for mission applications.
  • Build and maintain analytics supporting GhostMachine Portable Map Reduce (PMR) frameworks.
  • Develop and support enterprise data flows using Apache NiFi and related data integration technologies.
  • Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery to ensure data quality and operational reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to design, test, deploy, and maintain production software solutions.
  • Participate in the AVP process and coordinate with AVG stakeholders to support mission requirements.
  • Utilize GitLab and the Atlassian tool suite to support source control, issue tracking, documentation, and Agile development activities.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, to improve software development efficiency and engineering workflows.
  • Troubleshoot application, data processing, and integration issues while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience developing applications using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing or supporting ETL processes and enterprise data integration workflows.
  • Experience with Apache NiFi or comparable enterprise data flow technologies.
  • Experience working with GitLab and the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with GhostMachine analytics and Portable Map Reduce (PMR) frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the AVP process and supporting AVG mission activities.
  • Experience supporting enterprise knowledge management or data curation initiatives.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools, including Claude Code.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community data analytics or mission systems.

Benefits & conditions

USD $155,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr. life insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, 401(k) United States, Maryland, Annapolis Junction, USD $155,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
